Chapter 3

“I used to be blaming myself for not being good enough. I heard from my grandfather that my deceased father was an irresponsible man. My father lied me; he once told me that he is a great swordsman during his era but it all were story when I saw him chicken out when facing a bunch of enemies. To save him, I cannot believe that he sold my younger brother. My deceased father also like gambling, gambling until whole family broke. He finally runs away when people came and collect debts. I and my grandfather have to working with those people to help him clear his debt out. But, no longer. My grandfather passed away due his age and heart problem. Before his last breath, I cried and said that I cannot live alone without any relative, and I cannot do all of this to clear my father’s debt. I still remember my grandfather’s smile before passed away, he told me ‘If you think impossible, then it will be impossible; if you think it is possible then it will be possible.’ I always remember what my grandfather said before he died. This is how I survive and get out from the debt.

No longer, I learnt that my father was killed in a street and his body sent to sanatorium. Reason? He starts a fight with other people, all because of money. I have no choice but went to sanatorium to claim his dead body and give him a proper burial. He stills my father after all no matter what he done to the family. Later, there’s a bunch people said that they are from Brylto Monarchy. They asked and trying to recruit me as a soldier and I agreed. My fate turns better once I joined them. I was given foods, clothes and place to stay. What I have to do is; practice my sword-play and be a responsibility soldier.”


Present at barrack,

“….”

“Hmm… where am I? Ouch... ” Kincaid appear wake up from the wound.

“You should rest more, sir. You are losing too much blood. You are safe now. We just came in time for the rescue.” Camille said.

“Heh, I was thinking that I am about die. But thanks to you guys.”

“You are tough one, sir. You can beat them all by yourself.” Camille still dumbfounded that Kincaid can facing three elite enemies in a time.


“Nope, I am not tough. I am just blessed by a dearest when I was a child. By the way, how’s the situation now? I heard there are other enemy elites around here.” Kincaid still want to wake up and help the other partition to beat enemy elites.

“What you have to do now, just rest. If you insist to helping them; you may slow them down and I can’t guarantee you can be saved this time. Don’t worry, sir. Darriyo got elites; our kingdom got our own elites as well.” Camille forces Kincaid not to move and asked him back to his bed and taking rest. Kincaid agreed what Camille said and he won’t disrupt their battle.

Meanwhile, Captain Siegfried and his men still struggle fight against the Beta group, so as Lieutenant Ethan fight against Daniel and his Gamma group. It seems it is quite tough to Captain Siegfried and his men but they remain stable and face them. It is almost hopeless to win them. Finally, William got an inspiration after he got injured caused by a sword; his thought is the sword is indeed made from metal and it can create a spark of light if friction with other metal. Without hesitate, William swing his sword at wall and keep making sparks. After the others witness William’s action, they follow his action as well.

“Ouch, we can’t just keep hit by them. We have to do something.” William’s thought.

Suddenly, William saw a spark of light that caused by his comrade. This spark of light was made incidentally while they are trying to hit enemy but miss the target and mistake hit on wall.

“Wait, our swords are made by metal. It is sure will make some spark if it is chafing with other objects such as stone wall. I have to try it out.” William’s thought again and chafing his sword on the wall and it is indeed creating some spark.

*crank, crank* William getting excited and keep hitting his sword on the wall.

“Oi! Are you nuts or what, you are hitting a wall, not on enemies” Marko shouted but William ignored him because he know he is doing a right thing.

“Wait, Marko. I think he is doing right. Okay, I understand now! Okay people, I take this benefit to beat them. I am sure they will lose since we are outnumbered.” Captain Siegfried understands William’s action and takes the advantage to take Beta group down.

With William’s help, Captain Siegfried able to take the Beta group down. Captain Siegfried captures them and order Marko and another two private take them to underground penitentiary. Still, some of them are injured badly and taken to medical treatment. William praised by Captain Siegfried for his brilliant move. Captain Siegfried never thought that he got a crew member such as William could think a better way to saved all of them. Marko is surprised but he got nothing to say since William also saved his life. William got nothing to say but disclaimed that wasn’t his honor but this honor belongs to Kincaid to teach him three months ago.

“Phew, it is taken lots of time to take them down. Finally….” One of the Captain Siegfried said.

“Don’t getting exciting yet, boy. We still have some works to do. Now, Marko, Silvia and Alec, imprison our three important guests. Later, we have to ask them some questions.” Captain Siegfried ordered Marko and another two of his men to imprison Beta group.

“… Thank you…” Marko appreciate for William’s help.

“For those who just merely scratch, follow me to the patrol around here. I am sure there will be more enemies group beside this one. I need two medic take care of for those who injured.” Captain Siegfried gave another order to his men again.

“Good job, William. I never thought a lad like you can save us all.” Captain Siegfried also starting to like William.

“The honor not for me sir, but for a man who has taught me three months ago.” William disclaimed to get the honor and instead for Kincaid.

“Looking down on yourself, huh? No wonder Lieutenant Edge want to befriend with you guys. Good, keep it up, Will.”

Meanwhile, Kincaid insists to helping them after he heard that enemies’ focal force assault on king room. For a reason is, Queen Erin, wife of King Brylto was his upbringing friend. Kincaid willing to do everything for his friends even though have to sacrifice his life. While Camille is hectic to helping other people, Kincaid get up and flight from his bed. When Camille realize, it was too late.

“Hey, I heard that their target on our king.” One of the wounded soldiers is talking with others. Kincaid heard it coincidentally.

“Hmm, yeah. I also heard that that was their main force to assault main force. Well, our job’s done here. Hopefully, Lieutenant Edge can against them.” Another wounded soldier said.

“Even Lieutenant Edge is strong but don’t forget that his force already wounded from last battle, even their captain, Captain Joshua also still lay on the bed.” Another wounded soldier continues the conversation and panicking Kincaid.

“I have to do something. Erin still with the king.” Kincaid concerned about his youth friend. He forces himself to get up, grabbed his sword and shift to king room.

“Sir? Excuse me; do you know where is the person here going?” Camille back from treating other patients and realized Kincaid weren’t here and asking other wounded soldiers.

“Sorry, I had no idea. I saw him grab his sword then went out.” A wounded soldier replied.

“This guy, I already told him better not to move…. Oh well, I can’t manipulate his life as well.” Camille gave up on Kincaid and letting Kincaid doing by his own.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Ethan still skirmishing with Daniel and his men are fight against Daniel’s men. For a long fight, Lieutenant Ethan still alive for keep fighting Daniel and Daniel intimidated. There is no wonder why Lieutenant Ethan got a renowned “Lieutenant Edge” as his title. Broil, Grace, Nana and Virile still have their durable time for that fight. In fact, they already wounded from the last battle.

“Impressive, I normally take a few seconds to take my opponent down.” Daniel impressed that Lieutenant Ethan still alive for fighting him.

“Enough talk! Invader, be surrender now or I will be beat you!” Lieutenant Edge said.

“Surrender or you will beat me. Wow, you can talk big. But I preferred we continue the fight. Take this, hah!” Daniel is felt confidentially that he can win and he never mislays or yield to his adversary.

A few seconds later, Nana and Virile were injured by enemies. They cannot catch up their moves and ended up slashed by them. Grace and Broil still harassed. When one of enemies advance and try to slay Virile from behind. A man who wearing weighty chain mail with a colossal axe appears, he slices the enemy into two and saved Virile’s life. The man appeared as the King Kirby Brylto himself. Queen Erin is there as well. Queen Erin is an extraordinary healer that doesn’t need any medical tool box. In other words, Queen Erin is a magician who has healing power as her magic ability. She approaches to Nana and Virile and treating their lesion.

“They are good!” Nana complaints.

“Ahh… they got me!” Virile shouted that she got hit by an enemy.

“Ahh… they got me too.” Nana was the next.

“Now I got you!” An enemy takes the advantage and tries to take Virile down.


*Slice*

“Who has given an order that ladies can join in the battlefield as well?” A man with massive armor and gigantic axe appears and start his words.


“Err… milord. I am a lady as well. Heh, heh…” Erin says.

“Lord… Lord Brylto?! I am sorry; I am the one who should save you.” Virile panic and claimed that she should give up her life to save the king.

“Since when I had make a rules that everyone can die for me? Come on, I already bored with these rules. You see, I can battle as well.” Lord Brylto said.

“You guys still do not know much about your lord. He is a combatant; he always swings his axe to practice and complaints that he wishes that he could join in a battle.” Queen Erin continues the king’s word while treating Virile’s wounds.

“And this will be the best moment to test my skill out. You guys just stand back. Let me handle two of them. This is an order, directly from me!” Lord Brylto continues.

“But, Lord. This is our duty….” Nana insists to help Lord Brylto.

“What did you say?” Lord Brylto then stares at her.

“Eh, nothing milord. Your command is our honor. He, he…” Nana terrified and keep quiet.

“Gah, you must be the stupidest king I have seen; came out and meet your fate. Now die!”

“The stupidest king?!” Lord Brylto then gets aggravated but his skill is overcome enemies’ attack.

Back to the scene where Lieutenant Ethan fight with Daniel. One of the Gamma group members flee and asking for help from Daniel. Lord Brylto already slays another member of them.

“Captain! Help! Their king is insane!” Last Gamma group member asking for help from Daniel.

“Too slow! Take this, Brylto Tomahawkkkkk!” Lord Brylto throws his massive axe and ends the last Gamma group member’s life. Both of Lieutenant Ethan and Daniel shocked; they do not know that Lord Brylto can fight actually.

“Hey, is he really your king?” Daniel forgot his position and asks Lieutenant Ethan.

“Beats me. I also do not know our lord can battle.” Lieutenant Ethan also forgot his position as well.

“Oi, aren’t you guys suppose to be fighting?” Lord Brylto stares at them. Daniel and Lieutenant Ethan then back to their poses.

“Hey, since when we are friends? We are supposed to be still fighting.” Daniel said.

“Hell yeah! Milord, I dare to ask you stand back. This guy is Darriyo Captain; his skill can beat around 10 people in a slash.” Lieutenant Ethan tells Lord Brylto to stay back and said that Daniel is a dangerous person.

“If you insist to ask me go away. I will put a punishment on you. Lieutenant Edge.” Lord Brylto then picks up his axe and team up with Lieutenant Ethan. Lord Brylto actually already knows his skill; this is why he rather team up with Lieutenant Ethan, Lord Brylto also knew his skill can match the Gamma enemies earlier; this is the another reason why he dare to face them all by himself.

“Okay then. But be careful, milord.”

As usual, Lieutenant Ethan keeps fighting Daniel but Daniel always able evades his attack; same goes to Daniel’s attack on Lieutenant Ethan. But Daniel mostly tries to massacre Lord Brylto, but fail. All thanks to Lord Brylto’s massive axe. Lord Brylto then realized that Daniel’s technique is aspiring his head so Lord Brylto tries hard to protect himself. Lord Brylto dares to ask Daniel to be his sword meanwhile Lord Brylto himself to be Lieutenant Ethan’s shield. Lieutenant Ethan seems wants to rebuff but he agreed at last since this is an order from Lord Brylto himself.

No longer, Kincaid and reinforcement arrived. Daniel has to stop their battle and flees since he knows he will lose soon and he knows Brylto armies are outnumbered. From there, both of them can hear Queen Erin shouted her close friend’s name, Kincaid. At this moment, Daniel look at Kincaid and recognized that Kincaid used to be gave him some gold during at the market. Same goes to Kincaid; Kincaid cannot believe that a nice guy like Daniel will be an enemy spy.

“Kincaid! You should not move around, your wounds are serious! At least let me treat them first!” Queen Erin is worries to her friend and makes an instantaneous medical treatment to Kincaid.

“Heh! I was worries about you too when I heard their objective is Lord Brylto. So I came without think twice.” Kincaid explained.

“As stubborn and friendship as always, huh. Oh well, you are lucky because the reinforcement is joining as well.” Queen Erin continues.

“Halt! Terrorist! You are surrounded. Surrender now!”

“Hmph! It seems I was miscalculate that King Brylto can fight.” Daniel then throws a smoke barrage and flees.

“That guy! I met him before. He is the one who gave me money during I was at the market.” Daniel’s thought after he has noticed Kincaid was there.

“Well, at least all of us are safe now! Haha! I enjoy it so much!” Lord Brylto is enjoying the battle. Everyone at there stunned and never thought that their lord actually is a battle king.

“Milord, sorry for being late!” A sergeant begs apologizes for being late for the reinforcement.

“I was wishing that you guys arrived lately so I can enjoy the fight longer.” Lord Brylto said.

“Why? You guys surprised that I am actually a battle king? He! He!” Lord Brylto continues his conversation after he saw his people stunned.

“Anyway, my secret has been revealed. Oh well, perhaps I can join to the battlefield next time. He! He!” Lord Brylto implied that he want to join the force.

“Mi…milord! Please consider your position…”

“What did you say?” Lord Brylto stares at the sergeant.

“Nothing… milord…. I mean, sure you can join…”

“Good, good. By the way, two more days will be my beloved Queen’s centenary. I want all of you attends this coming centenary. No excuse!” Lord Brylto then continues that there will be a celebration held at coming two days.
