Chapter 2

Ten years in the past, there was a child who lived with his parents. His father was a knight for Moesha Kingdom so his father always out for duty. The child and his mother lived in a small cottage for waiting the return of father and always pray for father will come back in one piece.

The child’s father, Coral Grahams has a best friend named Steward Shepherds. They always hang out together and fight alongside. One day, an unexpected accident happened. This happened when Coral and Steward fought on the battlefield. Both of them were captured and tortured to tell their base. Coral was a bold and trustworthy knight. He won’t tell the information to his enemies but Steward lost his mind, scared being tortured and told everything. Then, Coral scold Steward for the stupidity. Their enemies getting excited after saw the circumstances and ask them to killing each other. Finally, Steward has slaughtered his own best friend, Coral. Steward also cut his head down bring to Moesha and pretended that he lost his friend and he want to quit as a soldier. Who knows, the moment he killed his friend was observed by a farmer who related with Coral’s wife.

“You better tell me everything what you had known about your empire, brave one. If you want to stay alive.” Roushen officer warn to Coral and Steward.

“I rather die, you swine!” Coral is brave enough to against them.

“Oh, you sure? Perhaps this one can help you to tell us. Philips, Alex, I know you guys like practicing your fist. Now, it’s your chance. Since both of them are hanged, they are your sandbags now.” The officer tells his men to torture both Coral and Steward.

“I can’t believe general finally grant us a… no.. it’s two flesh sandbags. Hehehehe”


“Argh! Ow! Ouch!”


“Okay! Okay! I tell you but you must promise that you will keep us alive.” Steward finally cannot endure the agony anymore and decides to be disloyal to his own country.

“Steward?! We are soldiers, remember? We are ready to sacrifice to our country. How could you?” Coral said.

“But we will die if this continues; you also have your family, right? I believe Lisa and Daniel are waiting for you as well” Steward scared enough to be a dead man.

“Even so, a family… no, a thousand of families can’t survive if we lost our country.” Coral still remain calm.

“How about like this, we give you guys’ swords. You guys fight each other until dead. Oh, you must cut the opponent’s head off by the way. Don’t try to trick us; we can kill both of you with our numbers.” The officer getting excited and gave them swords.

“If you want to kill me, go ahead. I won’t fight and never forget that I, Coral will have you as my friend. That was my big mistake in my life.” Coral give up his life.

“I… I’m sorry!”


*Zupp* Coral’s head was off.

“Now you must keep your promise, you must let me go.” Steward still beg to spare his life.

“Of course, this is the joy of soldier. Go now, chicken. Bring your friend’s head to meet your king. By the way, don’t forget to resign as a soldier if you don’t want to get killed. We already recognized your shit face. Muahahaha!”

Farmer: ….

A pass by farmer has already caught their awareness and this farmer is friend of Coral’s wife. Roushen armies were planning to eradicate the farmer as well since the farmer has already heard their banter and will report to Moesha Kingdom. Luckily, the farmer pretends to be hearing-impaired and speaking-impaired. Roushen army then disregard about him and raid all of the wheat that farmer gathered.

“Well, well. It seems someone has already heard our conversation. So, shall we take him out before he reports this news to their king? Say, what’s your last wish before met the Death?” One of the Roushen army made his speech and approach to the farmer and get ready to get rid of the farmer.

“Uh… oh…. Uh….” The farmer use his hand language to shows him that he is unable to listen and talking.

“Oh, just a deaf. Pity him. Okay, people! Grab everything that farmer had! Let’s teach him that should not watch our scene!”

“Sounds fun, boss!”

The whole thing that farmer got was vanished; only his life was lingering but he doesn’t care as long as he alive. All thanks to his intellectual. The farmer then going back and report to the king. Moesha King later commands his men to imprisoned Steward and executed him to let other soldiers know that a defector will be paid for what have they done, just like Steward. This news later heard by Coral’s wife, reported by the farmer himself. Poor to Coral’s wife, she cannot take the fact of her husband’s death. She collapses after heard the news. Her child takes care of her and she gets supported from the farmer and others.

No longer, Roushen army reaches Moesha Kingdom and gets rid of everyone. The main motive is another traitor was appeared and no one will expect that General of Moesha Kingdom was one of them. The farmer was killed for buying some times to Coral’s wife and her child and other survivors to flee. Sooner, Coral’s wife and her child flee to a canyon. The Roushen patrol still follows them. Coral’s wife found a small hole at canyon nearby, it’s perhaps a hole of mole and its fit for her child’s body. Her child was told to hide inside there and told to not going out. Coral’s wife then tells her last will, she told her child that she is glad that has met Coral and born the child. She fall her last tear and tells her child, Daniel Grahams must be a useful man, just like his decease father. Little Daniel can’t do anything. He just watched his mother and other villagers get slaughtered by the enemies. He promised himself cannot cry, he will remember her mother’s last words before died.

Soon, Moesha Kingdom has fallen and taken by Raushen. Moesha King was killed and hangs on the top of citadel and shows that Raushen has won. Daniel going out after the situation being silence. He witnesses his mother and others get killed. He saw their dead bodies around him. Daniel gets shocked but he still gave them a proper burial. Daniel grabbed a knife from a dead body and hunt down any wild animal; in the order to continue stay alive. He doesn’t like to drink dirt and killing people but he have to. The people that he killed are either Raushen civilian or people that being rude on him. For him, he doesn’t care about some Raushen civilian are guiltless and he wanting people respecting for him. This is why he killing. He killed five Raushen civilian in a week. When Daniel grown up, he went to coliseum and take down all of participants. Every participant’s head are cut down by him. Daniel laughs, just like a devil that gains his victor and shouted “I am invincible!” Since the day his mother death, Daniel have changed; from a kind people into a killing machine. Somehow, we also can see that his eye is shining, like a stray cat.

Daniel wakes up from the dream. He cannot sleep well and go to training room and practice his fist technique that learnt from a Chinese martial art. He keep convinces him that only strong people can rules the world. He also waits for a chance to eliminate Raushen once he defeated Brylto Monarchy.
At the next afternoon, Daniel chooses some of his finest soldiers to follow him and act as townsfolk when they get in the town successfully. They just dresses up like commoner and just take small weapons such as knife. They hide in a tavern and prepare for their midnight action. Daniel tells his men to get prepare themselves meanwhile he going out to find some foods for them. With coincidence, Daniel saw an old woman faint. He immediately toss away his foods and go to help that old woman. Many people saw this situation and applause to his action. Kincaid was one of them though. When Daniel return and collect his foods, his foods were gone; probably stolen by a shoplifter. At this moment, Kincaid approach to him and give him some funds even he doesn’t know about Daniel is an enemy. Actually, Daniel has a lot of money but he still accepts Kincaid’s funds in the order to cover his identity. This will be Daniel’s first time to being treated pleasant after his mother death. Even so, Daniel still have to continue his duty to take Brylto Monarchy down and get rewards from Darriyo to eliminate Raushen as his planned.

At midnight, Daniel and his men start their action. They act as dealer, sending the animals that they hunted and slipped in the castle successfully. The palace guard didn’t aware that they are enemies and letting them enter.

“Halt! Who are you guys? Where’s your pass?” The palace guard asked Daniel. Daniel and his men seems confidence since they already planned from the beginning.

“Sir, we are dealer from East Hellion. We just ordered by our lord to deliver the goods to your country. Here’s our pass, sir.” Daniel explained that they are from East Hellion and show their pass to the palace guard. The pass indeed from East Hellion, Lord Darriyo requested to help Daniel get a pass from East Hellion and Lord Darriyo fulfilled his request and get the pass, in the order to beat Brylto Monarchy.

“This is indeed East Hellion pass. Okay, you guys can enter. By the way, please be cautious for Darriyo attack, they might be here anytime.”

“Understood, sir.” *Smirk* Daniel pretends and get in the palace with his smile.


Daniel and his men reached palace underground, putting down the animal skins and Daniel start given task to his men. Since there are ten people of them, Daniel divides to three groups which is Alpha, Beta and Gamma. He order three of them launch a surprise attack on barrack; another three of them launch an attack on weaponry and another three of them follow Daniel to the king room and execute King Brylto.

“Okay, people. I need three of you launch a surprise attack on barrack. You will see many soldiers were there. I want you guys slit their throats without aware your existence. Also, try to grab some weapon from there to your own good. You can go now if you don’t have any problem.” Daniel arranges the Alpha group and assigned their task.


“For Beta group, I want you guys go to weaponry and grab their weapons. Your task is simple; their weaponry was at soldiers’ rooms nearby so I want you guys executed them while they are still asleep. Remember, to make sure they are dead, stab on their necks or slit their throats. Also, I want you guys make their place clean and clear. Got it? Now move out!” Daniel assigned tasks for Beta group. It seems Daniel is a cruel man, he ordered Alpha and Beta group to slit their opponents’ throats with sneak attack.

“The rest follow me to king room and execute King Brylto. It will be a difficult task ever. There are many palace guards to secure the room. I want you guys sneak attacks on them so they are unable to alert the other soldiers meanwhile I will be the one who enter the king room and execute the king. As usual, make sure you guys put them in an ‘eternal sleep’” Daniel then gives a task to themselves as Gamma group.

Daniel and his men moving out to their task to take down Brylto Monarchy as planned well. Meanwhile, Kincaid practice his sword as usual at backyard. Since their barrack at backyard nearby. Kincaid saw a few people and that will be Alpha group pass by. For Kincaid’s knowledge, dealer only allow enter to underground to put down the supplies so Kincaid hide and watch what has exact happen. Kincaid saw them slaughtered his comrades with slit their throats and Kincaid sneak to the bell and alert everyone.

*Ring!*

“What?! Enemy attack?! Prepare yourself, it’s gonna a battle!” All of Brylto armies have been waked up by the signal bell.

“What? How? We did it right, there is no way we can alert them.” One of Alpha group member surprised while they are facing with the woke up soldiers at the barrack. Of course, they still no match to Alpha group since the Alpha group is elite force selected by Daniel. But, luckily, Kincaid join the battle as well.

“Perhaps you guys don’t check twice the area or because you guys are dumb.” Kincaid suddenly appear at the battlefield and provoke the Alpha group.

At the barrack, several Brylto armies are wound. Only left Kincaid and some of available soldiers. Kincaid realized that he is no match to them but he still have to hold on and waiting for the support. What Kincaid has to do now is keep parrying the Alpha group’s swordplay and try to catch up their skill even he have to facing three of them in one time. No longer, Kincaid’s left shoulder get slashed by one of them. Kincaid endure the injured and keep fighting and his stomach later gets stabbed. Even so, Kincaid still stands up and facing them. He promise himself that he want to be a great swordsman so he will not give up. The Alpha group is impressed by Kincaid’s will but they still have to kill Kincaid. Meanwhile, William is searching for Kincaid. After a few minutes later, William realized that Kincaid is a strong man so he put faith on Kincaid and he believes Kincaid won’t die easily. William later joins Captain Siegfried to the battlefield at weaponry. Captain Joshua doubts that enemies may go for the king so he ordered Lieutenant Ethan to take his men; Broil, Nana, Grace and Virile to King room and against the enemies. Meanwhile, Daniel also surprised that their move has been spotted but it doesn’t frighten him. Daniel and his men keep on their task to the king room.

Back to barrack, Kincaid still having a hard time to duel with Alpha group.

“Man, you are tough. I think you never give up ever. How loyalty. But very soon, we will put you in a sleep.” One of the Alpha group members said. It doesn’t scared Kincaid though. Kincaid finally caught their movement and learn a trick how to repel their attacks, all in one time. Kincaid also ask the other survivors at the barrack stay back and leave the Alpha group all by him.

“Are… are you nuts, sir? They are far stronger than us and you already injured. There… there are no way can beat them.” One of the survivors talks to Kincaid.

“Heh, I already catch their movement. Just believe me. I cannot merely give up our life. Plus, ‘if you think it is impossible, then it will be impossible; if you think it is possible then it will be possible’. This is what my grandfather told me so go now!” Kincaid talked serenely and ask them to do so.

“Trying to be a hero, eh? Now, eat this!”

Kincaid catch the blade of one of the swords, then he used ankle to block another sword. As Kincaid’s thought so he holds his sword reversely. With blocking two enemies’ attack, he forces himself to stab the last enemy with his sword and end his life. Even so, Kincaid already badly injured. He wants to eliminate another two but it seems he already exhaust. Another two Alpha members surprised that Kincaid can kill one of them. Without hesitate, they take the chance to take Kincaid out. By chance, the backup has arrived. Two Alpha members have no choice but retreat. They jump through the window and run away. Kincaid was faint after the encounter and took to bed for the medical treatment.

“How? We are elite members that selected by Sir Daniel. How you can kill our men?”

“Damn, I have loss a lots of blood…. Huh… huh…. ”Kincaid started get dizzy after took one down.

“Now, you are done! You will pay for this for what have you done for our friend!”

“Halt! You are surrounded! Drop your weapons and surrender!” Brylto’s reinforcement just came in time and Kincaid was saved.

“Darn it! We will remember this. Next time we will kill you for sure, young warrior.” After the speech to Kincaid, both of them throw smoke barrage and run away.

“Finally….” Kincaid fainted for losing too many bloods.


“Heh, he must be a tough one. He can facing three of them and killed one of them by himself. Camille, take this young boy for medical treatment! I need five of you search for another survivors and the rest follow me to weaponry. There are still got enemies, I heard.”

“Aye, sarge!”


Meanwhile, Captain Siegfried and his men keep fighting with the Beta group at weaponry. Since weaponry there is such dark and hard to seen. Plus, Beta group have a proper training so they even can move well in the dark. This will be another hard battle to Captain Siegfried and his men. For William, this is a must fight battle; to gain more experience and vigor. He believes Kincaid’s word.

William used to be cannot hold a two-hand sword. Thanks to Kincaid, he managed to hold a two-hand sword.


Three months ago when William first join the force,

“Aww, it seems heavy. I… I cannot hold it with one hand….” William cries for he cannot hold a two-hand sword easily.

“Boy, it does not heavy though. Lemme tell you something; if you think it is impossible then it will be impossible; if you think it is possible then it will be possible. Now, close your eyes, imagine that the sword in front of you is a knife. Slowly get it with one hand” Kincaid approach to newcomer William and tell him his skill how to hold a two-hand sword and William follow his instruction.

“Close my eye… imagine… hold”

“Now! Pull it out!” William finally holds the two-hand sword with one hand in one time try. He is very glad that Kincaid taught him how to holds a heavy sword.

“You know, the sword isn’t heavy. The problem is from you. Everything you facing, you must try it hard, not to run away. It is a possible if you try hard!”

This is how William met Kincaid for the first time.
